The Cat In The Hat by Dr. Seuss
The Cat in the Hat could be interpreted as a good and a bad book. First, this book could be beneficial for children because it is entertaining, and it is easy to keep a child's attention. It also has very good rhyming words and schemes. Even with these good aspects, there are some parts in this story that aren't good for children. In the book, the "Cat in the Hat" comes into their house without welcome, and tells the children to let him stay because he's not going to hurt anything. This could make children think that letting strangers in is okay. In the book, when the children's mom arrives home, they start quickly trying to hide everything and consider lieing to their mom. This could send a bad message to kids, but it could also teach them a lesson. This book could be taken both ways and I think it just depends on how the message is taught to the child.
    Ish by Peter Reynolds
In the book "Ish", the main character, Ramon, dosen't believe that he is a good drawer. He loses confidence in himself and it drags his self esteem down. His sister looks at his artwork and tells him many "ishful" things about it. This helps him to feel better about himself. This book was very beneficial, and it will encourage kids to try new things and be very '"ishly". This book proves that "ish" is good enough, and that creativity is a very good thing. I reccomend this book for people of ALL ages. You will get a smile on your face and feel better about yourself, no matter if you are 5 years old, or 80 years old.

    Plans for the Future:
In the future, I plan on becoming either an elementary school or high school teacher. This class has impacted my decision so much, because at first I wasn't 100% sure that this would be the right thing for me. Now, I know that this was meant for me, and that teaching is my passion. I don't know if I should stick with elementary, or become a high school teacher. Most of the time, I love kids. But I'm not sure if I could handle being there all day, everyday, with them. High school seems like it would be a good position for me, but I could easily be taken advantage of. I would like to have a relationship with my students, but it would be harder to be a high school teacher so that I wouldn't become their "friend". I absolutely love teaching because of this class and I cannot wait to see the difference that I can make!

In the future, all of this could hinder John in his education, social life, etc. His ADHD could become worse and his trouble to stay focused could become a bigger obstacle. Studies show that many kids that are abused turn out to be abusive in the future. I hate this for him because he is so sweet and he wouldn’t hurt anyone, but if he continues to see this, he will begin to think it is okay.

A few days ago, I found out that John had told the substitute that his dad was in jail for beating up his mom, and kicking his dog. This kid obviously goes through too much and I wish that he could get out of the home, so he can have a better life than what he has now.
During his EOGs, his ADHD was acting up very much. He apparently finished in 30 minutes and used the rest of the time to move around and make as much noise as possible. I am unaware of his EOG scores but I doubt he did very well. He had to complete most of the test without his glasses, because he “lost” them, and no family was at his house to bring him any extras.

lawn mower. The second day, he told me that his dad had accidentally spilled gasoline on his arm at a campfire. After this incident, Mrs. Loftis reported John's situation to DSS. We didn't hear anything back for weeks. John came back and told me that over the weekend his uncle had taught him how to pick a lock. I was trying to teach him what he had missed in math while he was gone, but he wanted to keep telling me about what all he and his uncle had done over the weekend. John is very frustrating to work with, just because of the ADHD and everything going on at home. He is such a sweet kid and always wants a hug from me. He just needs to work on his attention span, or he will have trouble in the future. Lesson Plan Reflection!
I felt that my lesson plan went very well. At the beginning when I asked about the different kinds of clocks, they would try their best to think of different kinds of clocks, and they would tell me about them. When we did the clock activity on the floor, they were very enthusiastic about it. They got to get up and move around and work with clocks hands on. Most of them did this very easily, but if they didn't get it, I would step in and help them without giving them the exact answer. Nobody got very frustrated, and they seemed to enjoy this part of the lesson.
I gave them the worksheet and turned on the smartboard. I did the first 3 clocks on the worksheet to show them what they needed to do. For the next 3 clocks, I would call random students up to the board to complete one in front of everyone, because sometimes students can learn better from each other rather than someone in "authority". For the last three clocks on the worksheet, I let them do it by themselves. When I looked over the worksheets, over half of the class got the questions right, and that was my goal!
I was very pleased with the outcome of my lesson!!

    Elapsed Time
    Materials Needed:
    Different Clocks.
    Clock Mat
    Arrows
    Worksheet
    Smartboard (Optional)
    Introduction:
Tell the kids that we are going to work on elapsed time.
Ask them to look at any clock in the room and tell what the time is.
Show different kinds of clocks. (Analog, Digital, etc.)
    Group Activity:
Lay large clock mat out on the floor. Let kids sit around it in a circle. Have two cut out arrows and put it on a time. Go around the circle and tell them to move the time a specific amount. (Half an hour, 3 Quarters of an hour, etc.)
    Practice
Have a worksheet with clocks on them, with a specific time. Ask the kids to write down what the time would be in a given amount of time. First, model how to do the worksheet. Second, call students up to do a few problems. Finally, let the kids do the rest of the worksheet by themselves for independent practice.
