Materials Needed:
Different Clocks.
Clock Mat
Arrows
Worksheet
Smartboard (Optional)
Introduction:
Tell the kids that we are going to work on elapsed time.
Ask them to look at any clock in the room and tell what the time is.
Show different kinds of clocks. (Analog, Digital, etc.)
Group Activity:
Lay large clock mat out on the floor. Let kids sit around it in a circle. Have two cut out arrows and put it on a time. Go around the circle and tell them to move the time a specific amount. (Half an hour, 3 Quarters of an hour, etc.)
Practice
Have a worksheet with clocks on them, with a specific time. Ask the kids to write down what the time would be in a given amount of time. First, model how to do the worksheet. Second, call students up to do a few problems. Finally, let the kids do the rest of the worksheet by themselves for independent practice.
